Photo-Exhibition:

Chrónos

Beside their volunteering activity at a primary school in Nicosia, the participants of Unity-iOS Education Volunteers project of the European Solidarity Corps programme, Beatriz Carvalho (Portugal) and Denis Hoffmann (Germany), had the wonderful idea of organizing a photo exhibition showcasing the history and complex beauty of the country that temporarily became their home! In their own words:

“Throughout our time living in Nicosia, we stumbled upon many remains of the different periods of history and cultures that make Cyprus what it is. Combining both passions of photography and history, we wanted to explore beyond the ordinary, go deeper and find a better understanding of the people living and experiencing the heritage their ancestries left them.
Making this project was one of the most rewarding experiences we had these past months. We got to know so many interesting people, their stories and discover beautiful hidden places of the city.
In it, you can find six different historical periods of time, remaining in the forms of churches, markets, bars, buildings, but especially in people. We looked for personal connections with these places, stories that keep them alive throughout time.”
