The eighteenth session of the Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage will take place at the Cresta Mowana Resort in Kasane, Republic of Botswana from Monday 4 to Saturday 9 December 2023. An opening ceremony is scheduled on Sunday 3 December 2023.
Politistiko Ergastiri as a NGO accredited to provide advisory services to the UNESCO committee of Intangible Cultural Heritage since 2012 has been selected amongts others to present its activity:
The project called “Echoes of the City” is an interactive tour created and set in the city of Lefkosia, Cyprus. The methodology and structure of the activity allows museums, municipalities, local authorities, informal groups, a neighbourhood to investigate their local heritage and share with the public in an interactive and educational way.
The basic concept is to identify important cultural, environments, historical elements, structures, buildings, traditions of a neighbourhood and create an interactive tour providing a hands on experience for the quests and groups participating. Performers/actors/facilitators host the guest in each stop of the tour providing a live interaction introducing the topic. Technology of QR codes and web information allows the quests to investigate the topic deeper.
Our activities are based on non-formal process. The activity was implemented focused on two topics: a.The history of the City of Lefkosia b. The local heritage of the neighbourhood of Ayioi Omoloyites.
