AN ESC VOLUNTEERING TEAMS PROJECT
IN NICOSIA, CYPRUS
1-16 JUNE 2022
The issue to be addressed is the need for a greater understanding of the importance of reducing the single-use or disposable plastic. While plastic has many valuable uses, we have become addicted to single-use or disposable plastic — with severe environmental and climate change consequences. The contribution of the ESC volunteer teams in this project will provide a much needed boost to the ongoing efforts of local volunteers already engaging to protect the environment and combat climate change.
The activities foreseen are those necessary to get awareness of the dangers caused by single-use plastic and reduce it by knowing how to improve the way we manage our plastic waste. This can include: signing “no plastic pledges”; giving leaflets to the customers and the bar owners explaining why we should take action against plastic pollution and information about upcoming or ongoing changes to the local and National laws about this as a result of the 2019 EU Directive.
